Tonight, October 7, Mrs. Flaneur and I went to Trellis, which is located at 110 on highway 99W in Dundee, right across from the Arco gas station.
Because of the small dining room I was advised to get a reservation. So, I made a reservation. We got there a little before hand and the limited number of parking spots were all filled. This meant that we ended up parking on the street about a block away. Seating was immediate.
The food took an hour to arrive. Like some kind of Seinfeld episode, Mrs. Flaneur and I watched as people who arrived after us got their food before we did.
I had the only burger on the menu. I paired it with the 54-40 Red ale.
The burger consists of a 1/3lb beef patty, american cheese, iceberg lettuce, grilled onions, house dressing and a potato bun. You might be noticing that there is a lot of overlap in this list and the list of ingredients on a Big Mac. There is also a lot of overlap in how they taste. I added bacon. It did not improve the experience.
I did not even finish the burger. Mrs. Flaneur said she had never known me to not finish a burger. I cannot recall ever not finishing one.
The burger comes with a generous portion of fries. The fries have no coating, but were well seasoned with salt and pepper. They were great and made up somewhat for the burger itself.
The 54-40 red ale was a good beer.
Overall I give the following grades:
Burger: C+
Fries: B+
Beer: B+
The cost of the base burger was $17. The bacon was an extra $2.
